I had several veneers at 1/16th inch thick from a single board of pacific curly maple. I cut the veneers into 3/4 inch strips and then 1 1/2 inch long shingles maintaining the order of the grain pattern so it would be reproduced when I sewed it back together. My friend Ingrid Psuty created the silver chain mail.
